WNUR News | News director

Since my sophomore year, I’ve served as the News Director of WNUR News. Sophomore year I tried different strategies for incorporating original content into the casts, as the structure of original casts was to read pre-reported Associated Press stories. I worked the summer of my junior year to re-organize WNUR News in a way where all casts had original content. This year, we have three casts per week. Each cast has 6 student-reported packages: two local news stories, two arts and entertainment stories, and two “oddities” stories. We also have a weekly exec meeting and general members meeting, which used to happen quarterly. The new members are more engaged and returning members have said they feel more proud of the work that they are doing now.

Project wildcat | trip counselor

The fall of 2018 I led a 6-day backpacking trip for incoming Northwestern students. Preparation for the trip was a month-long process that involved a counselor trip, organizing food, and prepping gear. Before the trip I taught students how to pack a backpack and what clothing was necessary for our trip. On trail, my co-pair and I taught students basic knots for setting up a tarp and bear bag as well as how to operate stoves. We were Wilderness First Aid certified as a pre-requisite for going on the trip, and thus were in charge of keeping up with our campers’ emotional, mental and physical well being. On top of teaching hard skills, we also organized and led lessons in consensus among group members, leadership, and conflict management.

Kappa delta | vice president public relations

I worked as the VP-PR of Kappa Delta during the 2017-2018 school year. During my time there I managed social media feeds on Instagram, Facebook and Tumblr. I created marketing strategies for different community service events we would put on throughout the year. I designed content for Facebook and Instagram publicity pushes and organized flyering and tabling in the Northwestern student center. I was also in charge of designing and ordering merchandise for the chapter.
